BackgroundNew

Freelance children's book publicist specialising in providing publicity and marketing services to UK book publishers and authors.

Liz provided PR support for our charity's poetry award (the CLiPPA) for four years. During this time the profile of the award grew from a lovely but low key event to a major award where the ceremony alone has an audience of 1000. Liz has provided PR throughout this time, helping to develop the award in terms of recognition and reach and to ensure the award was covered widely in local and national press and broadcast. Liz was always very much part of the award team and is very skilled at striking a balance between working as part of a team and within an organisation's brand and messaging whilst at the same time not being scared to suggest new and innovative ideas. Her lively and friendly approach, her calm and efficient manner as well as her determination and great contacts make her a brilliant PR and we would have no hestiation in recommending her or her work.

I love working with Liz! She keeps an eye out for great PR opportunities, and is just the support I need when I'm doing something a bit intimidating such as a BBC slot! (And its handy that she's Manchester-based, for that reason!) I've been on book tours with her and she keeps a sense of humour and cool head even when unexpected things come up, and she makes things work out. She quick and professional with e-mails and she's good at prioritising what's urgent. Besides that, she's simply great company and fun to have around

I first met Liz many years ago, but didn't have the privilege of working closely with her until she was recommended to me as the best possible person to launch the latest novel by an Australian author little known in the UK at that time. The novel, The Stars at Oktober Bend by Glenda Millard, went on to be shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal and although Glenda's writing is, or course, superb, I have no doubt that the success the book enjoyed here has been down to Liz's focus and enthusiasm. Since then, we have worked together on all Old Barn's varied projects, and Liz is an absolute joy to work with: full of innovative ideas, extremely well-connected and with the tact and discretion to approach the right people in the right way at the right time. Apart from all that, she clearly loves books, reading and connecting with the audience and her enthusiasm is infectious. Liz is a calming supportive influence as well as an hilarious companion on the occasionally daunting publishing journey and I could not have built Old Barn Books without her.

I first met Liz in 2015 and noticed the outstanding work she was doing promoting the CLPE CLiPPA Poetry Award. I was delighted and honoured when she agreed to help me craft my marketing and PR needs for my career as a children's author and poet. Liz works tirelessly fusing creativity and professionalism, always going that one step further to ensure that the right message is communicated in a way that is both appropriate and will be heard. I work with a range of people from teachers to festivals, media companies to publishers ad have found Liz to be an indispensable ally in navigating the varied requests and making the necessary links that help make a career made up of many parts feel like a harmonious whole.

Liz is an essential part of the b small publishing family. As a micro-publisher (just the two of us here), we rely on Liz's support to get our books out there. Liz is always available to discuss which of our titles would benefit from her support and writes excellent plans that take into account the restraints on our time and our budgets. Between campaigns, Liz always forwards opportunities and tags us in conversations. She always has our best interests at heart and we can tell that she wants us to succeed. Thanks Liz!

Liz is an utter wonder to work with. We've been touring together since I was a debut, and I credit so much of my career success to her incredible ability to put together a seamlessly run book tour. She has great contacts with schools, booksellers, librarians, judges - plus she's a general joy to spend time with. With publishing so London-centric, its vital to have a great PR and a champion in the north of the country. She's been the brains behind many of my most successful book events, and gives everything she does a hundred percent.
