I first met Liz many years ago, but didn't have the privilege of working closely with her until she was recommended to me as the best possible person to launch the latest novel by an Australian author little known in the UK at that time. The novel, The Stars at Oktober Bend by Glenda Millard, went on to be shortlisted for the CILIP Carnegie Medal and although Glenda's writing is, or course, superb, I have no doubt that the success the book enjoyed here has been down to Liz's focus and enthusiasm.
